Practicing Forbearance

It is stated in ‘Learning from Buddha’  that so many ancient virtuous ones made use of slander, curses, and attacks against them from other people, transforming such experiences into enlightenment and great compassion. In the end, it is those who are slandered who become the holy ones. Remember the teaching of Jesus to “turn your other cheek” if assaulted. How could you know if you have truly realized compassion for all, if you are not able to endure insults–if you lack forbearance or the ability to patiently endure everything harmful that comes from the outside? H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III demonstrates this vividly in His refusal to publish or discuss the acquittal of crimes against Him and the conviction of His accusers.
